Myrtle Beach Photographer
I love being a Myrtle Beach Photographer! Last week, my family and I went “on holiday” as my son, Lucas refers to vacation (thanks, Peppa Pig!) My husband and I find it so adorable, we not only refuse to correct him, but we also now refer to all of our family vacations as “holiday”. Traveling with two toddlers can be tricky, so we decided to road trip it down to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Yes, it is brave to embark on a ten hour road trip each way with two toddlers, but getting through the airport with all the gear you need when you have two kids (carseats, double stroller, everyone’s luggage, etc.) is even less fun. Plus, we liked the flexibility we had to come and go as we pleased with our car. And, fortunately, by the grace of God, we actually had a smooth ride there and back! We chose to travel at bedtime, Dan drove the first 5 1/2 hours and I took over somewhere around Virginia at about 2 o’clock in the morning. We arrived in Myrtle Beach right around 6:30 AM, just in time for breakfast!
Our Experience With VRBO
The house Dan found on vrbo was absolutely amazing! We stayed at the Beach Colony, but rented this amazing unit, directly from the owners. Dale and Robin, recently purchased and completely renovated the entire condo, and they did an incredible job! We stayed in a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, end unit condo on the 20th floor with amazing views of both the sunrise and sunset. It was an absolute dream! I was obsessed with all the shabby chic beach decor. Totally my style! And those floors! I want them for my house. We stayed at the Sunrise, Sunset condo for almost a week. We had the beach as our front yard and the sunrise as our alarm clock (who am I kidding, Lucas was my alarm every morning, and he made sure I did not miss a single sunrise!) And with a view like this, I’m so glad he didn’t!
Each morning I would drink my coffee on the balcony and watch the sunrise. Then, when Dan woke up, he would watch the kids so I could go for a run on the beach. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen my beach run stories. I ran in the sand without shoes (holy sore calves, batman!) and it was amazing! Then I finished the workout by running up 20 flights of stairs to our condo. (I had to work off all the delicious southern food we were eating!)
I was obsessed with the cacti on the beach! I mean, seriously! We do not have that in New Jersey! Of course, I had to take my kids down to the beach to take some new photos. We must be on holiday because they usually don’t let me near them with my camera! Lucas refused to pose with his sister, but he had no problem taking some pictures with Daddy!
Our Restaurant Recommendations
Since we had the kids with us and they go to bed pretty early, we did lots of lunches out and cooked dinner in our kitchen or ordered in. For lunch, we liked to go down to the boardwalk and eat at the restaurants on the beach! Some of our favorites were Landshark and 8th Ave Tiki Bar. Yes, they were touristy, but we were tourists! Dan met some locals on the golf course who reccommended Soho for sushi, so after the kids went to bed one night, Dan brought back sushi and we ate on the balcony. Finally, for the last night, we ventured over to Broadway at the Beach and actually braved a restaurant for dinner. I am so proud of my children who behaved themselves through a nice seafood dinner at Landry’s. It was the perfect end to an amazing week!
Family Friendly Activities, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
With views like these, it was hard to leave the beach the beach at all, but we did venture down to the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Broadway at the Beach for some fun! Lucas and Dan made me ride the Sky Wheel, even though I am terrified of heights! I probably haven’t gone on a ferris wheel in 20 years, but Lucas told me he would keep me safe, so how could I refuse?! We also took the kids to the dinosaur exhibit down at Broadway at the Beach. They loved it!
I am so grateful for a wonderful family vacation at the beach! And #sorrynotsorry for palm tree and sunrise overload! I was obsessed!

Keri, I loved seeing the pictures of your time at the beach (your children are adorable!) and seeing that you loved the view as much as we do. Thank you for staying at our place and for your most gracious comments. ~ Robin
