5 Books to Grow Your Business
It’s no secret that I love to read. And I definitely read a lot of books about business. Here are 5 of my favorites. I credit these books in helping me to take my business to the next level.
-
Building a Story Brand by Donald Miller
Those who realize the epic story of life is not about them but actually about the people around them somehow win in the end.
An LA publicist I was talking to referred me to this book and it is my all time favorite business book of all time. Get it now. You won’t regret it. Its easy to read, makes total sense and is easy to implement. The main take away is this: Its not about you. You are creating a movie and your client is the hero. You are not the hero, you are the guide. When you position your client as the hero, you win.
2. The Pumpkin Plan by Mike Michalowicz
Dare to be exactly who you are. Let your business be an amplification of your authentic self, and watch it grow by leaps and bounds.
Next, is The Pumpkin Plan. I love this book. Its really made me rethink how I structure my business. Basically, the way to grow the biggest pumpkin in the patch is to pull off all the little pumpkins growing and put all your energy into the big pumpkin. This book gives a strategy to figure out what you are good at, what your clients want and how to grow that into the biggest pumpkin in the patch.
3. Crushing It by Gary Vaynerchuk
What really matters is a pretty short list: intent, authenticity, passion, patience, speed, work and attention.
Third, is another book I recommend everyone read. I read Crushing It before I knew anything about Gary Vaynerchuk. Now that I have been following him for awhile, I’m actually reading it again. He gives really great advice about how anyone can have a business doing what they love. He has a tough love delivery, but says all the right things.
4. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
Riches do not respond to wishes. They respond only to definite plans, backed by definite desires, through constant PERSISTENCE.
This is the book I am reading now. Think and Grow Rich is a classic business book (it was first published in 1937), but the advice inside is timeless. I loved learning the stories that launched some of the oldest companies in America- Ford, JP Morgan Chase and others. My biggest take away from this book is that you can have whatever you want in life whether its money, happiness, a relationship, etc. You just need to know what you want and not give up until you get it. Napoleon Hill introduced the concept of the Mastermind 83 years ago and it is still going strong today!
5. The Illusion of Money by Kyle Cease
I challenge you to transcend the illusions that have been causing you to believe that money creates your freedom, that circumstances control your happiness, or that other people’s opinions of you have anything to do with who or what you are.
Finally, I really enjoyed The Illusion of Money and read it in less than a week! I found this book because Karena Dawn of Tone it Up swears by it so I picked it up right away. This book is really one big pep talk about why you have to chase your dreams.
