Winter Engagement Session Locations
It can be tough to find great winter engagement session locations in the north east. The trees are bare and everything looks dead and barren. But don’t worry- I’ve done all the location scouting for you. Here are my 8 Favorite Winter Engagement Session Locations.
1. Longwood Gardens
I am linking to a wedding where we took bride and groom portraits, but Longwood Gardens is the perfect place for an engagement session- all year round AND during the winter. The beautiful fountain may not be on in December but it looks so European.
2. Dumbo Brooklyn

The Brooklyn Bridge is the perfect spot for a winter engagement session because there are no trees, so you can’t tell what season it is! Also, the colder it is- the less crowds there are to shoot around!
There is also an indoor carousel where you can shoot. Tickets are only $2, but Jane’s Carousel is only open Thurs-Sun in the winter.
3. The Jersey Shore
I love shooting at the The Jersey Shore in the winter because the beach looks the same all year round! Plus, I love cozying couples up on the beach together with scarves and hats. This is actually where we did our Christmas card photos a few Decembers ago.
4. Hoboken Waterfront
Basically any waterfront is great for winter engagement sessions. It may be chilly, but you can’t tell in the photos that its winter! Hoboken is a great choice for anytime of year because of the beautiful views of Manhattan.
5. NJ Botanical Gardens at Skyland Manor
Many of these pictures are from summer and warmer weather, but Skyland Manor would be a great place for you r winter engagement session
6. Princeton University
Princeton University is another go to winter location for me because you can use the beautiful buildings as your backdrop. I love the white steps and stunning architecture.
7. Greenhouse Engagement
A greenhouse is the perfect place for your winter engagement session because its warm inside! I used to love going to Deep Cut Gardens in Middletown, NJ until I found out that even when you get a permit, you are not allowed to use the greenhouse. Now, I love to go to Bear Creek Herbary in Howell. The permit fee is $100 but it was totally worth it. We had the place to ourselves and the green house is always green and warm.
8. Christmas Tree Farm
Any excuse to shoot at a Christmas tree farm is good for me! I love doing our family photos on a tree farm every year and always thought it would make for the cutest engagement session! Well I finally got my chance to photograph Jenna, Casey and their two adorable fur babies at Deerfield Tree Farm in White House Station, NJ. If you are looking for a tree farm engagement session, I am your girl!
