Meet Keri, Bridal Shower Expert
Photo by my super talented friend and second shooter, Jenna of Home Acres Creative.
Hi and welcome to the blog! If you are new here, my name is Keri and I am a writer and wedding and event photographer from New Jersey and Bridal Shower Expert! I was even interviewed by Brides.com about the recent booming bridal shower trend of gift baskets.
Since becoming a photographer, I have photographed hundreds of various events including baby showers, weddings, birthday parties, baptisms, engagement parties and yes, of course, BRIDAL SHOWERS. In the past few years alone I have photographed dozens of bridal showers. And they are so much fun! I get the best and most stylish clients who throw some amazing parties! I haven’t met a bridal shower I didn’t love, but I will say, some are executed better than others. The majority of events I photograph these days are luxury affairs. But, one thing thing I have noticed is that the small things make a big impact.
Little Details, Big Impact
That, my friends, brings us to today’s topic of bridal shower signs. Nearly ever bridal shower I photograph these days has a variety of signs on display. Signage is a new shower trend must have! And what I love most about this is that adding signs to your bridal shower is affordable for any budget and you don’t need a planner to do it. Bridal shower signs are an easy DIY project that instantly elevates any affair. There are tons of different options in terms of types of signs, how to print, how to display and more so hopefully this post answers all the questions you have!
Why Have Bridal Shower Signs?
Sign from Amanda’s Elegant Green & White Madison Hotel Bridal Shower
First, let’s start off with why even bother with shower signs. In my opinion, bridal shower signs serve 6 main purposes.
- Welcome: A perfectly placed bridal shower sign is a great way to welcome your guests to the shower. Make sure to have your photographer take a photo of you with the sign.
2. Decor: Simply put, bridal shower signs are a great way to decorate your venue! And they are much cheaper than flowers! If you care about things looking pretty, this is a great way to do it! And if you are a bridal party member doing things on a budget, this is a great place to start.
3. Organization: Oh how I love to organize and I bet you do too! The cards and gifts sign tells guests where to put their present. The bride to be chair sign lets the bride know where to sit, etc. Signs are a great way to keep things organized and running smoothly during the event.
4. Instructions: To explain the rules of a game. For more on bridal shower games, check out this post.
5. Display: To share important information, such as: your wedding hashtag, countdown the days to your wedding & more!
6. Personalization: Let’s face it…showers and events can all start to look alike. A custom sign is a great way to personalize the day and makes for a nice keepsake for the bride to be.
Fun & Flirty Bridal Party from Raven’s Madison Hotel Bridgeton Inspired Shower. What a gorgeous crew!
Pro Tip: Don’t be afraid to provide a dress code for your bridal party. Raven instructed her girls to wear blush while her maid of honor is in nude and she, of course is wearing white.
What Signs Do You Need at a Bridal Shower?
Next, let’s talk about the many different types of shower signs. Who would have thought there can be so many? I am listing the top 12 I see the most often here.
The 12 Types of Bridal Shower Signs:
- Welcome
- Chair Signs
- Bride to Be
- Games & Activities
- Countdown to Wedding Day
- Guestbook
- Photobooth
- Dessert table, Favors, Flower Bar (Labels/Signs)
- Love themed signs (decor)
- Food & Drink (labels)
- Banner
- Gifts & Cards
1. Welcome Signs
Welcome Signs from Taylor’s Bridal Shower / Lucy’s Bridal Shower / Kayla’s Bridal Shower
A welcome sign is a great way to greet your guests and have a memorable keepsake from the day. Lots of people what to know what to put on your welcome sign. See above for ideas on how my brides designed their signs. A good place to start is “Welcome to Taylor’s Bridal Shower” You will definitely want to include your name and some kind of date.
How to Display Your Welcome Sign
You have a few options when it comes to displaying your sign.
- Easel: You can have it printed on a thick foam board (Zazzle is great for this) and then display on an easel.
- Frame: Print your sign on a regular poster sized paper and frame. Your frame can then be placed on a table or easel.
- Mirrored Sign: Acrylic and mirrors are another popular bridal shower trend I am seeing this year. Pro Tip: Mirrors can be tricky to photograph because they reflect everything around them. Sometimes, I move the sign away from the entrance in order to get the best shot. You don’t want an exit sign reflected in the mirror.
What date do you put on a bridal shower welcome sign?
Okay, this is a big question lots of people ask and you definitely have options.
The two main ones are:
- Your Bridal Shower Date (as seen above in Brianna’s sign)
2. Countdown to Wedding (as seen above in Lucy’s sign)
Don’t forget, If you have a wedding hashtag, the welcome sign is a great place to display it! (Just like Taylor did above) Also don’t forget to have your photographer take a photo of you next to your sign.
My favorite place to get welcome signs are Zazzle, Etsy and Amazon. See below for a full list of options. Don’t forget to talk to your florist to take your welcome sign to the next level by adding flowers or greenery to your sign like Amanda did above. You will also need a stand or frame to display your sign. I love how the vintage gold easel Amanda chose complements the gold script font on her sign.
2. Chair Signs
Bride to Be Chair Sign via Etsy
I love the Bride to Be chair signs! These are also super popular at all of the showers I do. I love how it also serves as a place card so the bride knows exactly where to sit. Don’t forget to ask your florist to add some flowers for extra impact!
3. Bride to Be
Snag Nisha’s Floral Dress via Asos.
I love how these girls opted for large Bride to Be Signs for their backdrop. The backdrop serves as a Photo Booth and a gift opening spot. Pro Tip: Make sure to rent or buy a cute chair where you can sit to open gifts. Also, don’t be afraid to rent. Both of these backdrops shown above were rentals. A rental company does all the heavy lifting (literally) so you can sit and enjoy your day!
4. Game & Activities
Game signs are important to explain the games and activities at your shower to your guests. For more on Bridal Shower Games, make sure you check out this post where I list the top 20 shower games I have seen this year. Pro Tip: Order all your signs from the same sight so that they decor matches. Many sites offer matching bundles of bridal shower games, stationery, signs, invitation, thank you cards and more! To take it up a notch, order matching frames for all of your games and activities signs.
5. Countdown to Wedding
Countdown blocks via Amazon / White & gold via Etsy
This also makes a really cute bridal shower or engagement gift idea!
Signs don’t have to mean stationery! I love these adorable countdown to wedding blocks displayed at Brianna’s Bridal Shower on Long Island.
6. Table Signs
How cute is this idea to use little chalkboard signs in lieu of table numbers?! For Rita’s tea party bridal shower, her sister used signs with different types of tea instead of numbers!
7. Photo booth
A Photo Booth at your bridal shower is always a fun idea! You can probably even DIY it. Just don’t forget to include cute props and signs. If you don’t want to hire a photographer or Photo Booth attendant, guests can help each other take iPhone pics. Don’t be afraid to set up a photo booth station- even if you are on a budget!
8. Favors, Flower Bar, Dessert Table
I love how this flower bar sign serves as a table and includes instructions for guests.
Dessert Table Favor Bags / Gold Love Sign
Dessert tables at bridal showers are huge. I don’t think I’ve ever photographed a shower without one, honestly. Be sure to check out this dessert table post for tips to DIY your own.
9. Other Decor i.e., Love
Wooden Love Sign / White Love Sign (<—I actually have this one and love it)
I love how Brianna also displayed her wedding shoes!
Any signs related to love that you have in your home are a great to display at your shower. I love how Brianna also incorporated engagement pictures in the display.
10. Food & Drink
I love this white acrylic bubbly bar sign! Here’s a matching Cards & Gifts Sign too.
What is a bridal shower without a mimosa bar?! I love this mimosa bar sign! And that pink and gold frame is too perfect.
11. Banners & Bunting
Signs don’t all have to be framed. Banner signs or bunting is great too!
Bunting used to be popular a few years ago and I’m seeing it come back a bit this year!
12. Gifts & Cards
I love this one and this one. Could be displayed at your bridal shower and then again at your wedding.
White and acrylic is also a huge trend this year. Simple and beautiful. What’s not to love?
Where to buy bridal shower signs?
I typically recommend these 7 places to order your bridal shower signs.
- Zazzle I like zazzle because you can order as a glossy poster or even as a canvas to display!
- Etsy Etsy has some of the most creative and beautiful signs around!
- Amazon You can get really affordable signs on amazon.
- Vistaprint Super creative and unique.
- Michaels Style Me Pretty just released a line of Bridal Inspired Decor exclusive to Michaels!
- Target Always convent and adorable decor.
- Walmart Affordable, but not as many options.
Tips to Stand Out
This is the most unique bridal shower sign I have seen so far! A custom movie poster with the bride and groom’s faces. I also love how the title says BRIDE-rton not Bridgerton! See more from Marlee’s gorgeous Briderton shower here.
- Display: Frame or easel
You can print it on poster paper and frame it or print it really thick and post on a stand without a frame.
2. Make your sign a part of the decor.
-Add flowers
-Stay on theme
3. Don’t forget to have your photographer take a photo next to your welcome sign like we did during Rita’s Tea Party Shower.
4. Don’t forget to order matching menus, invitations, game cards, recipe cards and thank you cards!
Finally, here are a few of my favorite bridal welcome shower signs that my brides actually used.
