Rustic Bohemian Backyard Wedding
All the weddings I photograph are special, but this one is extra special because the bride is my little sister.
Christine and Jason got married on August 17, 2019 in the backyard of their log cabin on the lake in Landing, New Jersey.
Christine met Jay 7 years ago. 2 years after that, they had their son, Liam who is now 5. Because they already have a son, Christine and Jay planned to elope on the beach, but having a sister who is a professional wedding photographer (me!) somehow changed her mind. Christine and Jay always dreamed of getting married at their home, but were overwhelmed with all the planning details. Fortunately, as a wedding photographer, I go to weddings every weekend and knew I could help pull this off.
My sister has always been a free spirit; a wildflower in a field of roses, so to speak. So, I wanted her wedding photos to reflect her sense of style more than my own.

My sister is so pretty!
I typically tend to embrace more of a light and airy look, but I knew I wanted to use their log cabin exterior as the backdrop of many of the photos. I think it perfectly captures my sister’s rustic bohemian vision.
The budget for their wedding was only $5000, but I think these photos prove you don’t need to break the bank to create the beautiful wedding of your dreams.
While I am lucky enough to have had the honor of photographing the big day, I’m not the only family member that chipped in. My husband, Dan, became ordained for the affair and officiated the ceremony, and my cousin Connor Dj-ed. He works for a local dj company on the weekends, so I guess you can say that working in the wedding industry runs in the family!
Christine chose lots of local, north Jersey vendors that brought her rustic bohemian vision to life.
