Micro Weddings were predicted to trend even before this corona virus crisis. Now that nearly every one of my 2020 weddings have been rescheduled to year, I have a feeling we are going to be seeing more and more Micro Weddings and Elopements.

So what is the difference between an elopement and a Micro Wedding?

Great question : ) An elopement is traditionally less than 10 people. Typically, just the couple, an officiant and a couple of witnesses. A Micro Wedding consists of 20-50 people in all. Now that almost all types of gatherings are banned in most of the United States due to Covid-19, I definitely see Micro Weddings as a huge wedding trend when we are permitted to gather again.

Caitlin + Jason

Micro weddings don’t have to be boring! Caitlin and Jason decided to keep their original wedding date of August 14, 2020, even if things looked a bit different than they imagined. Originally, the plan was to get married a church, but when they were told that everyone in the church would have to wear masks (yes, including the bride + groom!) they knew it was time to change their plans. They moved their ceremony to their venue, Indian Trail Club, and moved their reception to their own backyard! They also had to un-invite more than half their guest list, but they are MARRIED! And they have beautiful wedding photos to show for it! They kept nearly all of their full day wedding photography coverage so we were able to tell the full story of getting ready, ceremony, portraits, dancing and speeches.

Sabrina + Rob got married at one of my favorite NJ Wedding Venues, The Mansion at Natirar. The opted for a tented reception on the lawn with a beautiful view.

There were no guests- only family and the couple choose to do a traditional Burmese ceremony followed by a white dress ceremony. They opted out of speeches and parent dances, but did do a first dance and formal cake cutting.

I got together with Xin of Le Petite Prive to capture how beautiful the micro wedding can be. Since we shot this during the covid-19 quarantine we had to get creative. Don’t worry- we were sure to wear masks and keep a safe distance. We could not hire any models, or involve too many vendors. Xinny took her wedding dress out of storage. The rings and the shoes are also from her wedding! I do love how it all came together.
