Sarah and Cole were chose December 30th as the wedding date for their Perona Farms wedding. They got a beautiful winter day with perfect lighting. They opted to not have a first look, so even though we had less time for portraits, we didn’t need much to make epic memories! Sarah’s vision for the day was Holiday Rustic Chic. She chose dark burgundy and gold as her main color story with various accents of blush and cream, mostly woven throughout the florals. She paired this elegant color scheme with black tuxes to achieve a timeless and elevated look. Her wedding party looked unbelievable with the girls in burgundy velvet dresses and the men in black tuxedos. I love how the fur shawls added an additional element of texture.

Bridal Party Photos

Since there was no first look, we photographed the girls and guys separately before the ceremony and. then took a few large group photos at the end of cocktail hour. On the outdoor patio, near the fire pits was the perfect setting for this large group bridal party shot.

Bride and Groom Photos

We took bridal portraits and groom portraits separately in the morning. I wish we had some extra time after the ceremony for more bride and groom photos, but Sarah and Cole looked so great and were so natural in front of the camera that we didn’t really need it! Our bridal attendant drove us to the nearby, beautiful Perona Lake for some quick photos before heading back for family and bridal party photos.

Ceremony & Reception

Perona Farms is a perfect location because they have a variety of spaces to choose from, including The Barn, The Perona Farms Refinery (a beautiful atrium space) and The Reserve. Sarah chose the rustic barn, which perfectly matched her vision. The ceremony space was initially set up in the barn and afterwards, the guests went downstairs to the first level of the barn for cocktail hour. While the guests were in cocktail hour, we explored the Perona Farms grounds, taking bride and groom photos since there was no first look. While this was happening, the Perona Farms staff was flipping the upstairs of the barn to set up the reception space. Sarah worked with her florist to design long holiday garland centerpieces in burgundy and blush. The barn truly is an ideal location if you are looking for the perfect rustic elegant venue. I love how the beautiful string lights added to the ambient lighting.

Pretty soon, it was time for Sarah and Cole to make their grand entrance!

I can’t believe this was my first time shooting a wedding at Perona Farms. If you are looking for a rustic wedding venue, than this is it. It’s great because it really does have a number of options. This is a venue I have been wanting to shoot at for a long time as a New Jersey wedding photographer. It’s one of those iconic northern New Jersey wedding venues that everyone talks about and I am so glad I got to shoot there. It’s one of my new favorite places and I can’t wait to go back. One of my favorite moments of the day were the speeches. Each one was better than the last.

Congratulations again to Sarah and Cole! I hope you love your wedding photos! I had such a great time capturing your love story with you and all your guests. The entire day went by so quickly and the dance floor was packed the whole night!
