Charleston Travel Guide for Families
Outfit Details: Riley’s Dress / Matching Mommy and Me Bathing Suits / My Hat / Riley’s Bow / Summer Vibes (boys) Summer Vibes Tank (Girls)
Charleston, South Carolina, in my opinion is one of the best family friendly cities to travel to with kids! There is so much to do and see here and we had a great time! I’ve wanted to bring my family here for the longest time and I am SO glad we did! The kids are 5 and 7 now and they did a great job, walking, touring & exploring and eating at restaurants. They loved testing out every gelato and candy shop and they even enjoyed the little things like the checkered floors at the Charleston Custom House. They even made it through a one hour family session with our photographer! Hallelujah! So, without further adieu, here are some of our personal favorite spots & family friendly activities in the beautiful town of Charleston, South Carolina!
Where to Eat in Charleston with Kids
Poogan’s Smoke House (lunch)
Fleet Landing(dinner)
Fleet Landing was recommended to us by our photographer, Emma and it did not disappoint! The location cannot be beat- right on the water and the food was great!
Rutledge Cab Co (lunch)
My husband found this one for lunch and I was impressed! Good food and casual vibes. The BLT was so good and I ordered the Magnolia for a lunchtime cocktail.
Places recommended to me for date night- Magnolia, and High Cotton. I was a little nervous about bringing kids here because these places are more upscale and don’t offer lunch.

Family Friendly Activities & Attractions
South Carolina Aquarium – On Wednesday, it rained for most of the day so we decided to do the Aquarium. My kids love aquariums and we try to visit one wherever we travel to, so this was perfect. My favorite part was the river otters who were super friendly and put on a great show. The sting rays were also super friendly and the touch tank was one of the best I’ve seen!
Carriage Ride through downtown. We chose Charleston Carriage Works.
I knew I had to hire a photographer to capture our family on this trip and I’m so glad I did! Emma is actually a wedding photographer which I loved because she got some really great shots of Dan and me! She’s also a mom and was so great with our kids.
